Fifteen baristas will compete in a creative, interactive competition on the evening of Friday, April 15, to win big prizes, including $2,000 from Pacific Foods, as well as gifts and equipment from Marco, La Marzocco, Espresso Parts, and Baratza, along with party sponsors Barista Magazine, Stumptown, and Rogue Ales.

Competitors are encouraged to use whatever coffee roaster they want in this competition wherein they will prepare straight-up cold brew as well as a cold-brew signature drink to sample out to attendees as well as present to a panel of esteemed judges.

Inspired by a cold brew throwdown event hosted by Stumptown Coffee in Portland last summer—at which Matt Millet of Water Ave. Coffee (pictured) participated—the 1st International Cold Brew Throwdown will be an amazing showcase of terrific cold brew and community spirit.

Dylan McClain of Case Study Coffee was the big winner at the cold-brew throwdown at Stumptown last summer, due to a crafty specialty beverage that included fresh hops.
